This was written for my new book, tentatively titled Rise From the Fall.

The book will have at least an album worth of original lyrics, some new, some already on here.

Verse 1:

I still remember the first night  I saw you
I didn’t think I was looking for anything
but I knew I couldn’t let you leave
without  at least giving this a try.

I still feel the rush thinking about it
how you said “yes” when I asked if I could buy you a drink
then how the minutes turned to hours
and you changed everything I am.

Chorus:

Because I never knew what I was missing
until I found what I never had
and even though it’s been months since I’ve held you
or got the chance to taste your kiss.

If you’d ever let me love you again
I wouldn’t let you slip away
like I so stupidly did
cause I’m not me without you
and even though I never had one
you’re the only thing that feels like home.

Verse 2:

I know there’s still pain
from everything we did
but you’re still the shelter I look for
when the fears become too real
and you’re the words that I write
to let the world know how to feel.

I memorized every touch, scent and sound
knowing I could be stupid enough to lose this
and those are the only things getting me through
these nights that become day
because when I close my eyes
I can lie to myself that you’re still here next to me.

Chorus:

Because I never knew what I was missing
until I found what I never had
and even though it’s been months since I last held you
or got the chance to taste your kiss.

If you’d ever let me love you again
I wouldn’t let you slip away
like I so stupidly did
cause I’m not me without you
and even though I never had one
you’re the only thing that feels like home.

Bridge:

And all I can say is I’m sorry
but I don’t know that you believe me
can’t say I blame you after I walked away
but if you give me another chance
I’ll show you why it is that people pray

Chorus:

Because I never knew what I was missing
until I found what I never had
and even though it’s been months since I last held you
or got the chance to taste your kiss.

If you’d ever let me love you again
I wouldn’t let you slip away
like I so stupidly did
cause I’m not me without you
and even though I never had one
you’re the only thing that feels like home.
